personal interests
video games! i’ve played a lot of: world of warcraft, runescape/osrs, minecraft, the secret world, killing floor 1/2, terraria, overwatch, europa universalis, left for dead 1/2, payday 1/2, banjo kazooie 1/2, mgsv5, starbound, stardew valley, tf2, bf3, tes oblivion, tes skyrim, all of rachet and clank, super mario series, loz series, pokemon emerald / diamond
musical tastes: i’m well rounded! i like a wide range of genres from electronic, to rock (punk, alt, 70s-00s), classic/orchestral, old country (not new country trap), hip-hop/rap
lots of books, I wouldn’t know where to begin. harry potter, tom clancy, inheritance series, the heir chronicles, the infernal devices, lotr, fahrenheit 451, animal farm, 1984, narnia series, so many single releases
i like to keep up to date with technology news and media, keeps me on my toes with my job. obviously i pay close attention to mobiles, and larger tech releases by major corps
i enjoy cycling for exercise!
i love my cat, she has been through many life experiences with me.
did you go to college?
no, i didn’t think it was appropriate for the career path i was taking, and my skill set was comparable to or larger than those who had already attended.
also money.
what got you into computers?
i was exposed to technology from a young age — computers, televisions, game consoles like the N64.
i ran a Minecraft and video game community for a while, moderated numerous websites and forums, and supported open source software. that, plus maintaining my own computer, gave me the baseline for my current career
what’s better, windows or macos?
each os reaches for a different goal, providing different means to a similar end. it can be very red vs blue.
me personally? my desktop is windows, my work machine is windows, but my casual machine is a macbook :)
why do you stay in technology?
there is something very satisfying about fixing that which is broken for someone without hope. there is a certain solace in having to decide it’s time to move on, and having to let someone know. sure it’s just a device or some data, but it’s soul work to me.
why did you move to Ohio?
i’m hoping i like freezing cold more than 99% humidity and murderous cooling bills.
do you have any pets?
i have a tabby cat name Bell. i hope to one day own some quail. i used to own hermit crabs when i was younger, and had a fascination with wood lice / moths as a child.
